Fleet Command Master Chief Robert Florentino

Command Master Chief Petty Officer Florentino is a native of New Orleans, La. He graduated from St. Augustine High School in 1990 and shortly after, enlisted in the U.S. Navy.

Florentino received recruit and apprenticeship training at RTC San Diego. His first assignment was aboard USS Sampson (DDG 10), Mayport, Fla. from January 1991 until June 1991. He was assigned as deck seaman and deployed once in support of Operation Desert Shield/Desert Storm.

In June 1991, he was assigned to the USS Stark(FFG 31), Mayport, Fla. and served as Radio Technician and Communication Watch Officer. He deployed twice to the Middle East and once in support of UNITAS. In June 1995, he reported to Destroyer Squadron 8, Mayport, Fla. and served as a Communications Watch Officer.

In 1998, he reported to the USS O’Bannon (DD 987), Mayport, Fla. where he was selected to Chief Petty Officer. He served as the Communications Leading Chief Petty Officer and EKMS Custodian. He deployed three times including two UNITAS deployments and one Middle East deployment.

In 2003, he reported to USS Roosevelt (DDG 80) Mayport, Fla. where he was selected to Senior Chief Petty Officer. He served as the Departmental Leading Chief Petty Officer and deployed twice to include one Middle East Deployment and one UNITAS Deployment.

In April 2006, he reported to NCTAMS EURCENT, Naples, Italy and served as Senior Enlisted Leader and SATCOM Departmental Leading Chief Petty Officer. In January 2008, he reported to Commander, Destroyer Squadron 40 where he was selected to Master Chief Petty Officer and served as the Command Senior Enlisted Leader.

In October 2012, he was selected for assignment to Commander, Naval Air Force, Atlantic where he served as the CNAL Staff Command Master Chief. In May 2014, he was selected for assignment to HSM-46 Mayport Fla., where he served as Command Master Chief.

In May 2016, he was selected for assignment to HSM-40 Mayport, Fla., where he served as the Fleet Replacement Squadron Command Master Chief. In May 2018, he was selected for assignment to Commander, Helicopter Strike Wing Atlantic, Mayport, Fla., where he served as the Wing Command Master Chief.

In May 2021, he was selected for assignment to Commander, United States Naval Forces Southern Command/United States Fourth Fleet, Mayport Fla., where he currently serves as the Fleet Command Master Chief.

Master Chief Florentino is a proud graduate of the U.S. Navy Senior Enlisted Academy Class 133 (Blue). His awards include three Meritorious Service Medals, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (2), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (7), and various unit and campaign awards.
