USNS BURLINGTON HOSTS LAUNCH OF UNMANNED SURFACE VEHICLE

CARRIBEAN SEA — U.S. Navy Sailors partnered with Military Sealift Command civilian mariners and civilian contractors in a collaborative effort to successfully launch a Wave Glider unmanned surface vehicle (USV) from expeditionary fast transport ship USNS Burlington (T-EPF 10), June 30, 2023.

The guided-missile destroyer USS Farragut (DDG 99) operates in heavy seas. Farragut is on a scheduled deployment supporting maritime security operations, theater security cooperation efforts in the U.S. 2nd Fleet area of responsibility.

USS Farragut (DDG 99) Arrives in the 4th Fleet AOR

CARIBBEAN SEA —

CARIBBEAN SEA - The Arleigh-Burke class guided-missile destroyer USS Farragut (DDG 99) arrived in the U.S. 4th Fleet area of operations for a scheduled deployment, Feb. 15. Embarked with the ship is U.S. Coast Guard Law Enforcement Detachment (LEDET) 406 to conduct counter narcotic operations in the region.

NORFOLK, Va. — NORFOLK, Va. - The hospital ship USNS Comfort (T-AH 20) returned to its homeport in Norfolk, Virginia, concluding Continuing Promise, Dec. 21, 2022.

USNS Comfort Completes Its Final Mission Stop of CP 2022 in Haiti

JEREMIE, Haiti - U.S. Navy hospital ship USNS Comfort (T-AH 20) completed its fifth and final mission stop of Continuing Promise 2022 in Jeremie, Haiti, Dec. 17, 2022.

Aviation Ordnanceman 2nd Class Libby, from Heath, OH, brings down the jack as the Freedom-variant littoral combat ship USS Milwaukee (LCS 5) gets underway from Limón, Costa Rica, Dec. 16, 2022. Milwaukee is deployed to the U.S. 4th Fleet area of operations under Destroyer Squadron 40 and Commander, Task Force 45, performing combined naval operations, exercises, and partnership building, and serving as a force provider to Joint Interagency Task Force - South for counter-illicit drug trafficking missions in the Caribbean and Eastern Pacific.

USS Milwaukee Visits Limón, Costa Rica

LIMÓN, Costa Rica — The Freedom-variant littoral combat ship USS Milwaukee (LCS 5) visited Limon, Costa Rica for a scheduled port visit from Dec. 14-16, marking the longest stay in the city by any U.S. Navy ship in years.

Continuing Promise 2022 Team Continues its Promise to Haiti

NAMRU-6 hosted several visitors and guests from the U.S. and Peru at the event, to include U.S. Ambassador to Peru Lisa Kenna, Rear Adm. Jorge Enrique Andaluz Echevarría, Surgeon General of the Peruvian Navy, Rear Adm. Guido F. Valdes, commander, Naval Medical Forces Pacific and Capt. William Denniston, commander, Naval Medical Research Center. Visitors provided remarks celebrating the history of the command and its ongoing mission. NAMRU-6, part of the Naval Medical Research & Development enterprise, supports Global Health Engagement through surveillance of a wide range of infectious diseases of military or public health significance, including dengue fever, malaria, diarrheal diseases, and sexually transmitted infections.
