A native of New Jersey, attended the U.S. Naval Academy, earning a Bachelor of Science in History and was commissioned in 2001. He earned a Master of Science in Information Warfare Systems Engineering from the Naval Post Graduate School in Monterey, California. He completed his Joint Professional Military Education Phase 1 from the Naval War College.
Reiher’s sea duty assignments include USS Hue City (CG 66), gunnery officer and force protection officer; USS Bataan (LHD 5), force protection officer; USS Bainbridge (DDG 96), chief engineer; Patrol Coastal Crew Foxtrot, commanding officer and deployed to the Arabian Gulf aboard USS Sirocco (PC 6); USS Sioux City (LCS 11); executive officer and commanding officer Gold Crew; and most recently, USS Wichita (LCS 13), commanding officer. He supported Operation Enduring Freedom, counter-terrorism and counter piracy operations, Operation New Dawn, and counter narcotic operations.
Ashore, Reiher served as deputy chairman for the U.S. Naval Academy’s Seamanship and Navigation Department and operations officer for the Joint Chiefs of Staff, J-35, Joint Operations Directorate for U.S. Central Command specializing in the Levant region. Most recently, Capt. Reiher served as Commodore of Surface Combat Systems Training Command (SCSTC) MAYPORT, formerly LCS Training Facility Atlantic.
Reiher's decorations and awards include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal, Joint Service Achievement Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, and other various unit and service awards.
